Men’s Soccer Ranked Preseason No. 16
The Grizzlies, who are coming off a 15-5 season that featured a national tournament appearance and the program’s first postseason championship, will begin the 2014 season Aug. 29 on the road in Lebanon, Tenn.
The Grizzlies finished last year at No. 18 overall.
On Monday, the Grizzlies were rated preseason second in the NAIA’s Independent grouping, behind national semifinalist Ashford (Iowa), which earned a first-place vote on Tuesday and the No. 4 overall ranking.
The Grizzlies defeated the Saints for last year’s Association of Independent Institutions title in Lawrenceville.
Six teams on GGC’s upcoming regular season schedule are ranked or receiving votes with Auburn Montgomery at No. 2, William Carey (Miss.) at No. 14, Thomas (Ga.) at No. 18, Bethel (Tenn.) at No. 22, Tennessee Wesleyan (RV) and SCAD Savannah (RV).

Women’s Soccer Receiving Top 25 Votes
The Georgia Gwinnett women’s soccer team will start the 2014 campaign just outside the Top 25, receiving the 29th-most points in the preseason NAIA Women’s Soccer Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, released on Tuesday.
The Grizzlies, who are coming off a 14-4-1 season which included the program’s debut in the national rankings, will begin the 2014 season this Sunday against Faulkner (Ala.) in Lawrenceville at 3 p.m.
“It came out well to move up a few spots from where we finished last year,” said GGC head coach Domenic Martelli. “Hopefully we can have some good results before the first midseason poll comes out Sep. 22.”
