Hundreds of kids prepare to compete on Saturday, August 16th in the first-ever Kids Champion Challenge, an obstacle course-style event in Gwinnett County. The highlight of the open competition is a 10-foot tall “warped wall” situated at the end of a winding course at 1405 Hewatt Road in Lilburn.
“We wanted to create an event where kids in our community would beg their parents to let them participate, and we figured the only way that would happen is if the event looked as awesome as what kids are watching on TV,” says Alex Trouteaud, founder of kidschampionchallenge.com. “Parents want their kids to get outside, get active, and challenge themselves…but there’s often a ‘disconnect’ with their kids. I believe the breakdown happens because our kids have a different idea of what “fun” should look like today, shaped by years of over-the-top action in video games and reality TV. So we figured, why not try to make that a reality?”
Parents can register their children for the event at http://kidschampionchallenge.com while spaces last. Even though this is the first time the Kids Champion Challenge is open up for community participation, Trouteaud and his team are hardly newcomers. They started Dynamic Karate USA five years ago, and today it is one of the largest martial arts schools in Gwinnett County.
The event opens at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 16th, and closes at 4:00 PM. Participants can arrive at any time during this window, and should e
